Bio

Enrique Busto was born in San Fernando (Cádiz) Spain, on March 4, 1974. He studied Clarinet and Composition in the Conservatories of Cádiz, Málaga, Seville, and in the “Robert Schumann” Musichochschule in Düsseldorf (Germany) with the composer José María Sánchez Verdú.

He obtained “Honorable Mention” in the specialities of Clarinet and Chamber Music, and “Honor Award” in Compositions studies.

In September 2003 he obtained one Prize of Composition in Comines (Belgium) for a piece to wind orchestra. In December 2008 he also obtained the First Prize “Xavier Montsaltvage” in the “XIX Edición del Premio Jóvenes Compositores” in Spain, with the organization of SGAE and CDMC institutions. And mentions in Stuttgart “ad libitum” and Valencia “Hui, hui música”. He participated in Darmstadt (2010) in “Reading Sessions” and in Donaueschingen (2011) in the Project “The next Generation”.

He realized different compositions courses: Villafranca del Bierzo, “Manuel de Falla” Internacional Courses of Granada and Cádiz, Injuve, Darmstadt Sommer Course; with different composers: Cristóbal Halffter, Tomás Marco, José María Sánchez Verdú, José Manuel López López, David del Puerto, Manfred Trojhan, Mauricio Sotelo, Jesús Rueda, Julio Estrada, James Dillon, Bryan Ferneyhough, Rebecca Saunders, Enno Poppe, Aperguis, Héctor Parra, Phillipe Hurel, …

His works are being played in different concerts in Málaga, Sax Festival in Sevilla, Villafranca del Bierzo, Spanish Music Festival in Cádiz, National Auditorio of Madrid, Klanken Festivial in Maastricht, Düsseldorf, Darmstadt, Moscou; and them have being played by different ensembles: Sax quartet “Italica”, “Taller Sonoro” Ensemble, Duo “Aura” Flute and Piano, Trio “Dahmar” , Andalucia Chamber Orchestra, “Manuel de Falla” Orchestra, Barcelona Modern Project, Grup Instrumental of Valencia, Ensemble Recherche.

In January 2018, a Master’s Degree in Electroacoustic Composition ends at the Katarina Gurska High School in Madrid with professors Alberto Bernal and Sergio Luque.

He has been a professor of Musical Technology in the Composition Department of the “Manuel Castillo” Superior Conservatory of Music in Seville from 2019 to 2023. He currently combines his work as a professor at the conservatory in his hometown with the direction of the Music Band of the “Maestro Agripino Lozano” Cultural Association, a position he has held since September 2014, and the “The Playbillers” Orchestra since 2018.
